The 6th of August saw the Brisbane chapter of the Beef and Burgundy Club attended the Ekka. This month the cost was $55 per person which included a $5 surcharge for the beefandburgundy.com website.

The Brisbane chapter of the Beef and Burgundy gave its approval to the food and the official Ekka opening.  All members enjoyed the “2014 Grand Champion Branded Beef of Royal Queensland Food & Wine Show – Roasted Swift Premium Grass Fed JBS eye fillet” and washed it down with a Mclaren Vale Sisters Run Shiraz.  As the Ekka was officially closed to the public for the evening we would like to give a big thankyou to our events planner Caitie Symes for fantastic night.

The wine was smooth and flavorsome with a hint of Cherry and Mulberry.  While the steak was a healthy 200g Eye Fillet but slightly dry and over cooked.

As the Ekka was officially opening the next day, it was the last opportunity for a professional singer to fine tune her skills in singing the Australian National Anthem over the PA system.  The Beef and Burgundy club took this as a sign to introduce it’s 2 new member speeches.  These two new members were approved unanimously under the backdrop of the Australian National Anthem.

The after party continued on at the Stockmens bar where the Beef and Burgundy members interacted with the local country folk with a fruitful reciprocal exchange of information about Beef.  There was a hat to non-hat ratio of approximately 60%.  Anything less would have been inappropriate.
