Soul Bistro in Milton had the honour of hosting the 2017 BBC Beefmas in July.  As per prior years, this was a partner’s event and was well attended by 23 members and partners.

The owner and operations manager (Terry) of Soul Bistro rose to the challenge and created a custom menu for the club, one which kept members guessing and did not disappoint.    Members were treated to delicious pan roasted scallops, followed by the main dish consisting of mystery tenderloins from an undisclosed animal served with a ricotta hash and a cheeseboard to finish.

Members and partners were asked to draw the animal the tenderloins came from. The animals drawn varied from mainstream options such as Kangaroo and sheep to more outside the box animals such as bats and ligers. However none in attendance correctly drew the meat served which was in fact goat.

On the line was the Beefmass title belt. Last year’s winner O’Hagan was in attendance and on odds favourite to defend her belt.  However, unexpectedly, rookie member Schneider in her first year of BBC took home the belt with an impressive score of 8.5/10. Unfortunately a tie breaker was not required this year the pit went unused.  Special mention to Claire who was the best performing partner.

Also a new tradition was initiated: the ‘P Johnson memorial cup’, which was awarded to the member who attended the most meatings in the previous 12 months. This was snapped up by long-time member C Blunck.

No new members attended but we welcomed back Hollands and Rachel who returned for their second BBC meating.  Special thanks to Terry from Soul Bistro who put on a brilliant event, meal and welcoming speech.
