The July meating of the Brisbane chapter of the Beef and Burgundy Club took place at Il Posto. Again, the food and wine was $50 per person.
Set in the heart of Paddington, Il Posto (the place) offers the intimacy of an open kitchen, plus an abundance of open-air dining to perfectly connect its bold Italian influence with Queensland’s alfresco dining philosophy. The restaurant is open for dinner 7 nights a week and for lunch from Wednesday to Sunday.
This month we were fortunate enough to have the head chef, Salvatore Siragusa, design us a meal that was separate to the menu on offer. Salvatore and the team trialled multiple dishes until they settled on the ideal options.
The meal consisted of a melt in your mouth grain fed wagyu rump (marble score 5/6) and a grass fed veal involtini filled with mozzarella and herbs and cooked in a tomato and basil sauce. These were served with polenta, roasted potatoes, tomato braised green beans and salad. One of the owners, Glen Haffenden, opted to couple this with a Victorian Sangiovese which perfectly complemented the meal.
These custom-made dishes were expertly cooked, extremely well received and absolutely delicious. Following dinner, the wine continued to flow and a great night was had by all involved.
